Brave, cunning and resourceful, Fox was the natural choice as leader of the Farthing Wood animals on the journey to White Deer Park. Initially distrusted by some of the smaller animals (Hare for one), Fox soon became loved by all. Fox's first heroic act on the journey was to rescue Toad when he was trapped by the fire on the marsh.
Disaster struck less than halfway into the journey. While crossing a river, the rabbits started to panic and Fox had to go to their rescue. The rabbits managed to get to safety, but Fox was caught by a mound of floating debris and washed over a weir and downstream. leaving the other animals to accept that he was dead.
However, Fox was far from dead, and somehow ended up in a canal boat. When the boat came to a lock, Fox jumped out and ran into the town, taking shelter in a supermarket delivery yard. On the way back to find his friends, Fox met Vixen and instantly fell in love with her. After escaping from a fox hunt and being reunited with the Farthing animals, Vixen agreed to be Fox's mate.
Arriving at White Deer Park, Fox became embroiled in a bitter feud with Scarface, the park's chief fox. Happiness came the following spring when Vixen gave birth to four cubs - Bold, Charmer, Dreamer & Friendly. This happiness was cut tragically short when Fox found the dead body of Dreamer, seemingly killed by Scarface. Shortly after, Bold left the park after rowing with his father and died outside the park after being shot. Fox's feud with Scarface came to a head, resulting in a violent fight between the two. Fox had the oppertunity to kill Scarface, but let him go. The feud came to an end when Adder killed Scarface. Shortly after Fox was reconciled with his dying son, Bold. Fox was now the chief fox of White Deer Park.
Joy came back into Fox and Vixen's life with the arrival of their granson, Plucky, the offspring of Bold and Whisper, the town vixen. Fox doted on his granson and following a battle with a viscious gang of rats, which took a lot of energy out of Fox, he stood down as leader of the animals, passing the position on to Plucky.
